  16. French Immersion Certificate Students must take the FIF - French language course each year (Grade 9, 10, 11 & 12) to obtain their French Immersion certificate. The remainder of the 10 course program (6 credits) will be made of courses across a variety of disciplines.

Tips for Parents… Recognize the importance of setting directions for the future by encouraging your son/ daughter to consider:  Where they are now  Where they want to go; and  How they are going to get there (look to the future, but be informed by the past) Set aside time for this discussion…

  20. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions in Grade 11 and 12 College Courses? University Courses? Workplace Courses? University/ College Courses Coop? SHSM? Dual Credits? Which ones to choose? This year KCSS offered 174 different courses divided among 17 different departments.

  24. Grade 8 Students will received instruction from their Grade 8 school. KCSS Guidance will speak to this process in early Log in January at their elementary school.

  27. For students attending a York Region Public School: Submit the Registration Form to King by February 1 The Course Selection sheet is due before February 22 All handed in to the Grade 8 Teacher. By February 1 By February 22

  28. B) Registration process for all other students:

  29. Your package includes a Registration Form and a ‘paper’ Course Selection sheet. Submit these forms to King City with all appropriate documentation including the Grade 8 mid year Report Card by February 22

  31. For All students… These dates are common throughout the YRDSB to allow families the opportunity to review the Grade 8 mid year report card and make inform choices. Your choices help create the school’s ‘master timetable’ … How many classes of each subject; in what period; in what semester etc.

  32.  Use the next few weeks to consider your choices. Review you Grade 8 mid-year report card and speak with Grade 8 teachers.  Remember you are choosing Grade 9 courses…the courses at the beginning of high school.  Making the best choice for you in Grade 9 is important.  You want to have a successful transition to Grade 9.

  33.  All students will receive a Course Verification Sheet in late March.  This is another opportunity to review/ revise/ confirm your choices based on your Grade 8 progress.
