CAMP HISTORY AND PURPOSE
- Kids for Camp was created in 2003
- In 2007, Camp became a summer learning lab
- Campers work on their assessed individual needs in
both classroom and community settings while having fun with their peers
APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS - THE BASICS
- Understanding (and modifying) behavior in the context of
environment is the basis for ABA therapies.
- ABA uses positive reinforcement in a way that can be
measured in order to bring about meaningful behavior change.
- Verbal Behavior motivates a child, teen, or adult to learn
language by connecting words with their purposes. What is Natural Environment Teaching? Teaching away from the table
- Elements of NET:
– What you want to teach – identifying reinforcers – Being creative in teaching targets, and having fun!
DATA = CAMP QUALITY
- To create a great camp where kids make progress, we need accurate
assessments and good data. Assessment tools – VB-MAPP; AFLS; Social Skills Profile Data collection - Collecting data allow us to determine appropriate targets, as well as camper progress.
