  2. Purpose Long‐term: The City of Sammamish is beginning an effort to update the 2006 Housing Strategy Plan to reflect current policy direction in the 2015 Comprehensive Plan. Tonight: Staff will illustrate the basics of a Housing Strategy Plan. Commission will then be asked for input on the type and amount of data it desires for future work sessions.

  6. Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan The policy framework in the Housing Element addresses a variety of housing goals and policies for Sammamish to achieve. One of these policies is to develop and implement a Housing Strategy Plan, consistent with the Housing Element.

To achieve the intent of the Housing Element, the City will update the Housing Strategy Plan to outline potential strategies to implement various goals and policies and their relative priority for consideration.

  13. Planning Commission’s Role The Planning Commission will play a major role in developing the Housing Strategy Plan, including leading the public outreach and engagement portion of the update effort. The Planning Commission is expected to have a sense of ownership over the updated Housing Strategy Plan.
