Hormones of the female reproductive cycle: Anterior pituitary gland: Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH): Stimulates growth of ovarian follicles, and estrogen production by ovary Lutenizing hormone (LH): stimulates follicles to produce hormones builds and maintains the corpus luteum after ovulation Ovary: Estrogen: causes follicle to mature, including stimulating meiosis Progesterone: aids in ovulation and then, in building uterine wall
What are the major differences between spermatogenesis and oogenesis? Where in the female reproductive tract does fertilization take place? What hormones are made by the anterior pituitary of the female and which are made by the ovary? How long is the period between fertilization and implantation?
