HMIP Inspection • New HMIP inspection cycle implemented from June 2018. • Derby YOS first YJ partnership to be inspected in England and Wales. • Fieldwork commenced 18.6.18. • 2 weeks of preparatory work. • Open communication line with HMIP. • Telephone meeting before fieldwork week with LI,
Preparation/Pre Fieldwork. • Ensure all key stakeholders aware. • Senior LA Managers and Chair of Board are on board. • Ensured performance/analysts are engaged. • Gather Evidence In Advance - essential and additional evidence. • Develop the case list. • Give sufficient time and attention to time table.
Preparation/Pre Fieldwork. • Developed our local story. • Engaged senior LA Managers. • CEO met with inspection team before day 1 LA presentation – demonstrated LA commitment to YJ. • Brief staff regularly. • Choose focus groups very carefully. • Try to find out about your LI.
Preparation/Pre Fieldwork. • Engage partners and Board. • Ensure you are giving OOC work equal focus to post court work. • Ensure good NS management and compliance. • Get the logistics right! • HMIP wil provide you with key documents in advance.
Fieldwork Week. • Presentation is key to ensuring you set the picture for what you want HMIP to know about your local YJ story. • De-brief sessions with staff after each case interview and focus group. • Meet with managers every evening – KIT. • Brief you performance lead and senior managers – KIT meetings.
