  2. Mission 1. Inform the community about prevalent types of cancer and diseases that affect the Hmong population and the importance of getting screened. 2. Provide an environment for pre-health undergraduates to obtain hands-on clinical experience. 3. Gather quantitative and qualitative data to assess the health status of the Hmong community.

  3. Goals SHORT TERM OBJECTIVES: ● Recruit interns who are dedicated to HLUB Clinic’s mission. ● Promote cancer and health awareness through outreaching and educational presentations. ● Provide medical services and patient navigation assistance.

  4. Goals continued... LONG TERM OBJECTIVES ● Reduce the cancer-related and health disparities in the Hmong community. ● Ensure that all Hmong individuals obtain skills and knowledge necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle. ● Participate in the planning and implementation of research activities designed to identify the health care needs of the Hmong community. ● Network with other organizations to achieve common objectives.

  10. Relocation We recently just integrated with our ● sister clinics called Paul Hom Asian Clinic (PHAC) and Vietnamese Clinic Location: Cancer Awareness, Research and 6341 Folsom Blvd Education Society (VN CARES). Sacramento, CA 95819

Internship requirement (easy peasy) 1 Year Commitment ○ Clinic shadowing, Education materials and Clinic training provided ○ Pass clinic test with 75% or better ○ General Meetings every month on the 1st Friday ○ Attend 2-4 Saturday clinics and tentative Sunday each quarter ○ Join either Outreach or Finance committee and one Health committee

  14. oh yeah, the Benefits ● Work closely with Hmong community in Sacramento ● Gain experience ○ Healthcare clinic setting ○ Patient interaction ○ Learn medical terminology in both English and Hmong ● Receive transcript notation of internship ○ UC Davis and CSU Sacramento students can register for 1-3 class units ● Receive letter of recommendation from medical director/preceptor ● Build resume/volunteer experience

How to become a HLUB Intern ● Applications are available online on November 5th, 2017 ○ HLUB Clinic 2017-2018 Internship Application ● Applications due date/time ○ November 30th, 2017 (11:59PM PST) ● Interview dates ○ Date: Friday, December 15th, Saturday, December 16th, and other dates! ○ Time: TBD via Email

How to become a HLUB Intern: Volunteer Instructions ● Complete Mandatory Privacy and Security Training ● Health Clearance Documents: ○ Tuberculosis (TB) Test ○ Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) ○ Varcella (Chicken Pox) ○ Influenza (Flu shots) *Clearance through UCD Student Health and Counseling Services*
