Intended Project Outcomes:

  • To help make the Town’s Heritage Register more manageable
  • A more manageable Heritage Register should allow the Heritage Advisory

Committee to focus their efforts on heritage education, outreach, designation, and other community cultural events, rather than on the need to continually process removal requests

Evaluation Methodology

  • Properties were evaluated against Historical Context Statements, which are

rooted in O.Reg. 9/06 and consider potential design/physical, historical/associative, and contextual values

  • Properties were reviewed for their known associations with people,
  • rganizations, events, etc. significant to the community
  • Standardized language was used for value statements and reasons for removal,

with individualized information added as needed, in order to be consistent across all properties. The evaluation methodology does not constitute a complete evaluation against all O.Reg. 9/06 criteria. It has been developed to address key indicators of value to ensure that consistent and clear reasons for inclusion on the Heritage Register are expressed.

  • That Council consider the removal of properties from the Heritage

Register as outlined in the Screening and Evaluation Results table

  • Due to the high concentration of heritage properties within Mt. Albert, it

is recommended that HAC consider a Heritage Conservation District study for the area at a future date
