What is House Bill 5?

⦿ HB5 was designed to instill more

flexibility in public education by enabling students to either pursue a traditional path into colleges and universities or move directly into the workforce to help fill what business leaders say is a critical skills shortage.

What does JISD require to graduate high school?

What is an Endorsement?

⦿ Students will be able to earn one or more endorsements as part of their graduation

  • requirements. Endorsements consist of a related

series of courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set. They provide students with in-depth knowledge of a subject area. Students earn an endorsement by completing the curriculum requirements for the endorsement, including 4th credit of math and science and 2 additional elective credits.

choosing a college major.

Career Cruising is an Internet-based career exploration and planning tool used by your son or daughter to explore career and college options and develop a career plan. Career Cruising can be accessed from school, from home, or wherever your son or daughter has access to the Internet.

Plan Your Path field trip permission slips distributed. Due back October 29th

  • Wednesday, Nov. 7th (LMS), Thursday, Nov. 8th

(NMS) –

9th grade counselors will discuss endorsements, AP, dual credit, and distribute endorsement and four year plan

  • sheets. Educate students on how extracurricular activities

impact scheduling and course choices.

DUE back Thursday, November 15th

  • Wednesday, Nov. 14th –

8th grade Plan Your Path field trip to JHS/NGC.
