Plans for Old 54” Force Main

  • Plan to abandon existing pipe has not been finalized
  • Not practical to remove existing pipeline or fill with grout
  • Pipe will be flushed with clean water to remove sewage and prevent corrosion
  • Valves will be installed at the ends of pipeline to seal the pipe
  • City has no intentions of using pipe in the future, but it could be used in an extreme

emergency

  • City will remain responsible for the pipe and will monitor its condition
