MINNESOTA

  • Completed
  • Integrated with IRIS and Cars systems in Minnesota
  • GTIS downloads incident, construction, VDS, DMS, and camera feeds from

MnDOT

  • Congestion and travel times computed by GTIS
  • Issues
  • Lane and estimated duration information are not provided in the Cars

incident feed

  • 46% of travel times N/A due to detector outages

SLIDE 10

WISCONSIN

  • Completed
  • Expanded use of WisDOT 511 system to include GLRTOC counties
  • utside of old LMIGA coverage
  • GTIS downloads incident, congestion, DMS, construction, and camera

feeds from WisDOT 511

  • Travel times are not included in feed and are computed by GTIS for

display on maps and in reports.

  • Issues
  • Lane information is often missing from automated incident feed forcing

the GTIS to display “Various Lanes” closed.

slide-11
SLIDE 11

ILLINOIS

  • Completed
  • IDOT funded integration with several agencies and systems throughout Illinois
  • Issues
  • No automated incident feed for most IDOT Districts
  • No congestion or travel time data throughout most of state

INDIANA

  • Completed
  • Integrated with both InDOT TrafficWise and Indiana Toll Road (ITR)
  • ITR pushes travel time and congestion data to GTIS
  • GTIS downloads VDS, DMS, incident, construction and CCTV feeds from InDOT
  • GTIS computes congestion and travel times for InDOT
  • Issues
  • ITR travel time and congestion data unreliable
  • No automated incident, DMS, construction or camera feeds for ITR
  • InDOT incident feed has some accuracy issues
  • ITR only emails full closure incident updates to GTIS staff

NOTIFICATION SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Operator enters incident Database Gateway finds relevant DMS in database and sends out e- mails to registered users To: IDOT From: Gateway Subject: Incident detected An incident has been detected at WB I-90 at Addison St. The following DMS signs should have messages placed on them:

  • 1. WB I-90 at Damen
  • 2. NWB I-90-Express at

Webster Ave

  • 3. WB I-290 at Post Office
