Why?

  • Desperately poor

  • Socio-economic & physical

infrastructure destroyed

– 300+ locals murdered – Children left alone

  • Citizen’s basic needs not met:

– Water, sanitation, energy…

THE GOOD NEWS

  • Despite some problems with the initial wire, the money is

now flowing smoothly.

  • TRF has approved 2 installments (totalling $201,000). This

along with $50,000 raised by our club has been sent to RC Kampala.

  • Work is ongoing as seen in the previous pictures and is

progressing as expected

  • A site inspection as arranged by TRF will happen late May or

early June

  • Martin has completed all progress reports required by TRF.

CHALLENGES

  • The Canadian dollar has dropped in value

since this project was approved in October and as 77% of the funding RCOT received was in Canadian dollars and must be converted to US dollars prior to submitting to RC Kampala, we are facing a possible shortfall due to exchange of $6,500 US.

  • RI staff have limited experience with a Global

Grant of this size. We are learning together!
