  3. Meeting Purpose Present, discuss and receive public comments on the proposed reconstruction and widening of approximately 3 miles of FM 1187 from Chisholm Trail Parkway to McCart Avenue/BF 1187C. The proposed improvements would reconstruct and widen FM 1187 from an existing two-lane roadway with center turn-lane to a four-lane roadway with a curbed center median. Two proposed alternatives can be viewed on detailed roll plots. FM 1187: Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH121) to McCart Avenue September 5, 2019 3

  5. Improving Connectivity & Regional Mobility Construction of this project and a separate project from McCart Avenue to 35W would provide a complete connection between two major freeways. The segment between Chisholm Trail Parkway and 35W would be a four lane, divided roadway with select grade separated intersections. Separate project from McCart Chisholm Trail Parkway Avenue to 35W to McCart Avenue/BF 1187C FM 1187: Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH121) to McCart Avenue September 5, 2019 5

  6. Existing FM 1187 STEP 1: Need for the study is identified and study begins STEP 2: TxDOT develops and evaluates many potential alignment options based on engineering factors and known environmental constraints STEP 3: TxDOT presents to the public the project need, possible roadway options, and 5 draft freeway alignment options to the public in Spring 2018,, STEP 4: More than 4,000 people and key stakeholders provide input  One lane in each direction and a turn lane STEP 5: TxDOT analyzed input and continued evaluation tasks  Roadway is 54’ wide STEP 6: TxDOT refined alignment options  Current ROW width is 90’ wide STEP 7: TxDOT is presented revised alignment options today for your input  No shared-use lanes and sidewalks  Center turn lane FM 1187: Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH121) to McCart Avenue September 5, 2019 6

  7. Proposed Typical Section – FM 1187  2 lanes in each direction  Generally 168’ ROW width that includes areas for lanes to be added in the future that are not a part of this project  Shared-use lanes and sidewalks  Curbed center median FM 1187: Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH121) to McCart Avenue September 5, 2019 7

  8. Proposed Typical Section – Future Intersections STEP 1: Need for the study is identified and study begins STEP 2: TxDOT develops and evaluates many potential alignment options based on engineering factors and known environmental constraints STEP 3: TxDOT presents to the public the project need, 3 possible roadway options, and 5 draft freeway alignment options to the public in Spring 2018 STEP 4: More than 4,000 people and key stakeholders provide input  At Hulen Street and FM 1902, TxDOT is proposing to construct roadway that would accommodate a future intersection with overpass. STEP 5: TxDOT analyzed input and continued evaluation tasks STEP 6: TxDOT refined alignment options  ROW widths at those locations are 300’  Shared-use lanes and sidewalks STEP 7: TxDOT is presented revised alignment options today for your input  Curbed center median FM 1187: Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH121) to McCart Avenue September 5, 2019 8
