Viscosity is the measure of a fluid’s resistance to flow Conditions that cause higher viscosity  Paint is cold especially during winter months  Container not sealed properly in storage  Container left opened to allow solvent evaporation  Using catalysed product that is past its pot life Results of high viscosity paint  Harder application  Orange peel  High film build  Trapped air  Trapped solvent causing solvent boil 14

  15.  Hold viscosity cup by handle & completely submerge into paint  Hold stop watch in other hand, ready to start  Lift viscosity cup out of paint and start stop watch immediately  As soon as paint flow from cup breaks, stop the stop watch.  Check time on stop watch to Technical Data Sheet.  If time is out more than 2 -3 seconds either side, add reducer  Test again Spray Viscosity Ford Din 4 @ 25 0 C 18 – 20 seconds 15
