  34. Ambulance Strike Team

  35. Ambulance Strike Team • This program has been developed by the Emergency Medical Services Authority as a critical component of the State’s capability to rapidly mobilize medical transportation resources in times of medical need that exceed local capacity .

  36. Ambulance Strike Team • Participation in AST’s is required for Counties in possession of a DMSU • Region V possesses three DMSU’s • Strike Teams can be used as a Regional and/or state resource. • Most common resource requested in large scale disasters. • Example: Oroville incident utilized over 5 AST’s for response during the Dam incident.

  37. Ambulance Strike Team • Region V is looking to hold a formal AST Leader training • Location is TBD but EMSA is willing to teach two training sessions if enough interest is generated • Minimum of 10 qualified people must attend • CEU’s can be obtained for the class • Participants need to have recommended prerequisites in order to attend

Ambulance Strike Team Prerequisites: • Understanding of the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) • ICS ‐ 100: Introduction to the Incident Command System • ICS ‐ 200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents • ICS ‐ 300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents ** • IS ‐ 700: National Incident Management System (NIMS), an Introduction • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Field Response Operations (FRO) • Ambulance operations experience (preferred)
