  • MHPSG received a demonstration of MaPPs software
  • MaPPs is software that creates bespoke patient information

about any medicine in a concise 250 word format

  • Produced by the same company that produces Choice &

Medication

  • MHPSG wanted to make DoPs aware of this product and it’s

potential value to patient care across all pharmacy sectors

slide-5
SLIDE 5

  • As a group we were unsure of the best way to communicate

this to the DoPs

  • An SBAR was written and submitted to DoPs
  • No formal feedback was received

  • Pilot study in Greater Glasgow and Clyde to test processes for

community pharmacy dispensing

  • Prostate cancer oral medicines (abiraterone and enzalutamide)
  • Positive feedback from CPs and patients
  • Similar models in other local boards, e.g. imatinib in NHS

Grampian

  • Role out across Scotland once negotiations complete
slide-12
SLIDE 12

NHS Education for Scotland DoPs / SIG event – Communication Structure

  • Consider and agree level for tiered pharmaceutical care (Tiers 1, 2

and 3) for specific cancer medicines

  • Review the completion of SACT Protocol templates in health boards

for variation/consistency

  • Contribute to collaborative efforts to embed infrastructure to

support a “once for Scotland” approach

  • Establish route of communication to NAPS (via ADoP NHS Lothian

Acute/SCAN) to allow for reporting of workstream progress

  • Opportunities for future developments for the group
slide-13
SLIDE 13

slide-16
SLIDE 16
