AMERSHAM DEANERY POSTS

slide-6
SLIDE 6

NOTES These are Full Time Equivalent (FTE) posts. A full time stipendiary minister works six days a week = 1 FTE post. A House for Duty minister works three days a week = 0.5 FTE post. So two parishes sharing one full time stipendiary post, and getting three days ministry a week each, are allocated the same amount as a parish with a House for Duty minister, which also gets three days ministry a week.

  • Church of the future
  • Balance of glebe
slide-8
SLIDE 8

NOTES These costs relate to the provision of ministry, and the glebe income is ring-fenced to fund ministry. So these amounts are all allocated based on ministry provided, the FTE posts.

NOTES This table calculates the ‘people’ numbers used to allocate support

  • costs. The Electoral Roll numbers are as reported and checked with
  • treasurers. The October Sunday Attendance figures are the

averages of the two middle numbers (largest and smallest disregarded) as reported on Statistical Returns. Where figures are missing, the previous year’s figures are increased by 10%. Four years figures are averaged for use in the allocations. So growth in numbers is phased in slowly – and decline in numbers is phased out slowly.

slide-15
SLIDE 15

NOTES This schedule shows how the figures on the Diocesan Allocation sheet are allocated to the parishes in our deanery. The adjustments column has previously been used to show mutual support within the deanery to make share affordable for everyone – this year these adjustments are mostly unnecessary, apart from the ongoing adjustment within the Chenies benefice. The final two columns show the increase or decrease in Parish Share allocated in 2017 compared to 2016. The biggest decrease, for Chesham Bois, is the final reduction due to the permanent loss

  • f a ministry post two years ago.

NOTES This slide shows the effect of different levels of reimbursed wedding and funeral fees on the increase or decrease in share allocation. For example, overall Denham has a rise of 5.16% over 2016 – but 3.47% of this is due to the change in fees, so the underlying increase in share allocation is 1.70% (0.01% rounding difference!) Although it distorts the share allocation, it is fair to return fees to the parish where they are earned. (This analysis does not really work in the Chenies Benefice, due to the adjustment ongoing within the benefice.)

NOTES This slide shows the net share payable (assuming all share paid by 30 November and so the budgeted deanery rebate can be made) – first white column. The final two columns show that the suggested 1% voluntary share payment for Milton Keynes is much less than the deanery rebate. Please ask your PCC to consider the voluntary payment in light of your own circumstances – the overall allocation to Amersham deanery this year shows a negligible rise and so for many parishes 1% generosity should be affordable.
