Background

  • In 2014, the Court Services of Victoria Act separated the

Victorian Courts from the Department of Justice

  • However, the Court’s were still hosted on the Department of

Justice network

  • This environment was mostly aging, out of support or end of

life.

Background

  • The state of the DJR environment limited the Court’s ability

to be able to implement upgrades, make changes or implement improvements to its core systems So we built our own.

the Court and migrated their data

  • Rebuilt our Case Management System and other Court

applications in Microsoft Azure

  • Implemented eFilling plus the Electronic Court File in the

What does this mean for records management?

  • One source of truth
  • Digital first (our archiving is currently all manual, all paper

and 10 years behind)

  • Automatic, electronic disposal of the record of the Court

What were the challenges?

Well, none really

For the first time in my career, they want it faster than I can deliver it

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Well, maybe funding And maybe the bureaucracy not wanting us to go out on

  • ur own
  • But having control of your own environment means

that we can respond to the needs of the Court

  • We own, administer and maintain our own

environment – end-to-end

Really no challenges?

What did we learn?

  • Having support from senior people in the business is

crucial

  • Infrastructure is everything
  • Your Project Manager and Project Team will make or break

you

  • And relationships with everyone is everything and then

some
