- Medical Biology embeds medical and health related topics into the
general biology curriculum. If focuses on preparation for the Academy of Science and Medicine but it is not required as a pre- requisite for the Academy.

AP/Honors courses should not be taken to try to improve one’s GPA. These courses are rigorous, and require maturity, commitment, and perseverance. In selecting courses for next year, consider with your student his/her academic strengths and interests, the rigor of the total academic program, commitment to any extra-curricular activities, work or family responsibilities, and work/life balance. If stress, anxiety, or the fear of failure (or of not getting straight As) are major concerns, please discuss pros and cons of taking AP/Honors classes with the counselors. Reminders… When Choosing Classes
Check high school graduation requirements. Consider your 4-year plan and post high school goals. Consider your Time Management Tracker. Check required classes for each grade. Check Cal State/UC or other college requirements. Check department flow charts to determine next course. Talk to friends and teachers about the content of the classes. Check the online Course Catalog on student.gusd.net. Sign and submit AP/Honors contracts and any necessary waivers.

NO CHANGES after May 25th, 2018 NO TEACHER REQUESTS The master schedule is built by the administrators and schedules are generated by a computer program. Counselors only look at conflicts. With 3,000 students at CVHS it is like an 18,000 piece puzzle. A change in one class creates a domino effect for all other classes.
