We know that connectedness in learning communities promotes positive mental health. When children and young people feel like they belong in a community, they’re more likely to develop:
Wellbeing Lesson format: x1 lesson a fortnight will be taught by their CORE Teacher. The purpose of these lessons is to build connections, teach students to be resilient and to create strong respectful relationships. There are no assessments or exams. The lesson allows students and teachers to get to know each other through activities and challenges working in different group sizes. The Wellbeing Program for Year 7 students will focus on 8 topics of Social and Emotional Learning: Emotional Literacy, Personal Strengths, Positive coping, Problem solving, Stress Management, Help-seeking, masculinity and how to create positive gender relationships.

Year 7 Core Structure Mixed Ability Differentiated approach Diverse Learning At St Edward’s there is significant commitment to students who need support to learn. The classroom is the primary and most important place where learning support is available. However, there are some programs offered which involve smaller groupings in more intensive, short term settings, such as homework help and access to literacy software.
Parents are encouraged to attend these sessions with their son.
