Recap of 2018 Expansion • Grew from 2017 • Total 44 Junior Teams! • 24 Open Teams • 20 Women’s Teams – biggest JR Women’s participation ever! • Total 890 athletes attending from 9 provinces Logistics • Great venue, new partnership with the City of Brampton • First time hosted by Ultimate Canada directly Survey Answers • 53 Coaches & Managers (35%) • 295 Players (33%) • Overall very positive feedback – it helps when the weather is awesome 

Recap of 2018 Most frequent feedback • Managers/coaches report that the online registration process is nt user-friendly • UC working on a webinar to help • Coaches getting more used to the paperwork required • Remember that paperwork is required before Regionals • Also a requirement for teams attending Regionals only • Tier system and Seeding were on point • Seeding could take coaches feedback into account (NJD discretionary clause) • Opening Ceremonies & Showcase Game • Awesome to showcase a Women’s Game! • too long • Lack of food options • Tuesday Social (pizza) – format not really beneficial to teams • Coaches /Observers too involved in the game • Reminder to leave the game to the players

  11. 2019 CUC JR Dates, Location & Logistics Website LIVE : http://cuc.canadianultimate.com/2019/cuc-edmonton/junior-divisions/ Logistic Updates: • Sunday August 11 th to Wednesday 14 th • Ivor Dent Sports Park, Edmonton, AB – same site as 2016 CUC • Host Hotel: Delta Edmonton South, Radisson Edmonton South, Sawridge Inn • Shuttles only from the host hotels • WestJet Discount code available on website 2019 CUC Series Registration opens May 1 st , 2019 • That includes registrations for Regional Events only

  12. 2019 Rule Changes Substantive changes: • UC will now accept guarantee letters from affiliated league or PTSO in lieu of performance bond cheque • Minimum roster size increased from14 to 16 players. Maximum remains at 28 players. • Last changes allowed to the roster are due by August 1 st at the latest, not 5 days prior to CUC JR as it was. • Uniform: requirements mainly stay the same, but vocabulary has been updated. Also pinnies for livestream if there is an issue. • Region change: ATL has been split into Maritimes (NS, NB, PEI) and Newfoundland and Labrador • Bid allocation has been updated to 8 regional bids, 2018 CUC Top 7, and 1 Development bid • For 2020, a provincial model will be adapted for bid allocation: 10 provinces, 6 strength bids (2019 CUC Top 6)

  13. 2019 CUC JR Bids & Expansion • Magic Number is… 16 • Automatic increase to 20 and 24 • Expansion based on ACTUAL number of teams registered • Registered Teams: • Online registration form completed AND Performance Bond received • Need 2 teams buffer to increase • If expansion, new bids are allocated based on registration numbers • Schedule of Expansion • Registration opens on May 1 st • 1 st decision will be made on May 15 th • 2 nd decision will be made on June 1 st • Final decision will be made on June 15 th

  14. 2019 CUC JR Bid Allocation • 1 per region (BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QC, MR, NL) • 1 for 2018 Top 7 • 1 Development bid • Not used bids or expansion bids = size bids based on CUC Series Registration

  15. 2019 CUC JR Series Eligibility Roster sizes : • Minimum 16 players • Maximum remains at 28 • Maximum 3 out of region players Players’ Eligibility • 14 to 18 at December 31 st , 2019 (born 2001 to 2005) • Exceptions: • for 19 years old players if in high school or first year of CEGEP • Junior aged players must be approved to play in any adult division in the CUC Series ***this includes participation in regional events Coaches’ & Chaperones Eligibility • All chaperones must be of 21 years of age or older • At least 1 coach per team must be 21 years of age or older • Teams must have 1 chaperone per 12 players

  17. 2019 CUC JR Series Requirements Coaches’ Paperwork • 2019 UC Waiver • 2019 UC Coach & Chaperones Policy • Letter from league or PSO • Criminal Check WITH Vulnerable Sector (or letter) – valid 2 years • Deadline: • Tuesday prior to Regional Qualification; or • July 16th for teams in region with no Regional Qualification Coaches’ Training • MANDATORY with SANCTION • The NCCP online concussion awareness module “Making Head Way in Sport” (valid life-time) • The online SOTG & Rules test (valid 2 years) • MANDATORY with REWARD (at least 1 coach per team) • The NCCP multisport module Making Ethical Decision and the MED online evaluation (valid life-time) • The Ultimate specific NCCP training Competition – Introduction Stream (valid life-time) • The NCCP multisport module Plan a Practice training (valid life-time)

  18. 2019 CUC JR Series Timeline • May 1, 2019: Registration for CUC opens • May 15, 2019: a first decision regarding potential expansion will be made (see 9.3.1) • June 1, 2019: a second decision regarding potential expansion will be made (see 9.3.1) • June 15, 2019: Registration for CUC closes; deadline for performance bonds • June 15, 2019: A final decision regarding potential expansion will be made (see 9.3.1) • June 16-July 16, 2019: Regional Championship roster deadlines (vary by region). • Tuesday prior to Regional Qualification: roster deadline. Coaches and Players’ requirements deadline. • July 16, 2019: Roster deadline for teams in region with no Regional Championship. • July 16, 2019 Deadline for Coaches and Players’ Requirements for teams in region with no qualification • July 31, 2019: Fee deadline for CUC player fee and Registered Competitive Athlete fee. 25% surcharge after this date. • August 1, 2019 at 8:30 am EDT: Deadline for final roster changes (addition of 5 players, removal of players due to injuries, etc.).
