Recap of 2017 & Lessons Learned Weather Issues 1) Safety • Our tents are inspected by an engineer, and properly grounded • They are safe to use as shelter 2) Fields • All efforts to relocate were made • Venue challenges (summer weather, damage clause in contract) 3) Communications • Communication issues were identified post-event & will be improved *Data from 2017 CUC Coach and Manager Survey • 1 main point of contact for coaches

Recap of 2017 & Lessons Learned Tier system • Survey results very positive • Only 7% don’t recommend it • We recognize that a lot of coaches are “unsure” • Issues unveiled: • Change the amount of playing time per players, as top players are played more • Bottom 17 to 24 can’t finish higher than 9th *Data from 2017 CUC Coach and Manager Survey

  12. 2018 CUC JR Bids & Expansion • Magic Number is… 16 • Automatic increase to 20 and 24 • Expansion based on ACTUAL number of teams registered • Registered Teams: • Form completed AND Performance Bond received • Need 2 teams buffer to increase • If expansion, new bids are allocated based on registration numbers • Schedule of Expansion • Registration opens on May 1 st • 1 st decision will be made on May 15 th • 2 nd decision will be made on June 1 st • Final decision will be made on June 15 th

  13. 2018 CUC JR Bid Allocation • 1 per region (BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QC, ATL) • 1 for multi-provinces region (ATL) • 1 for 2017 Top 7 • 1 Development bid • Open – awarded to ATL • Women’s – not awarded yet • Not used bids or expansion bids = size bids

  14. 2018 CUC JR Series Eligibility • Players’ Eligibility • 14 to 18 at December 31 st , 2018 (born 2000 to 2004) • Exceptions: • for 19 if in high school or first year of CEGEP • Junior aged players must be approved to play in any adult division in the CUC Series ***this includes participation in regional events • Coaches’ & Chaperones Eligibility • All chaperones must be of 21 years of age or older • At least 1 coach per team must be 21 years of age or older • Teams must have 1 chaperone per 12 players

  15. 2018 CUC JR Series Requirements • Players’ Paperwork • 2018 UC Participant Agreement • 2018 UC Player Code of Conduct • Deadline: • Tuesday prior to Regional Qualification; or • July 17 th for teams in region with no Regional Qualification • Chaperones’ Paperwork • 2018 UC Waiver • 2018 UC Coach & Chaperones Policy • Criminal Check WITH Vulnerable Sector – 2 years old (or letter) • Deadline: • August 1 st , 2018

  17. 2018 CUC JR Series Timeline • May 1, 2018: Registration for CUC opens • May 15, 2018: a first decision regarding potential expansion will be made (see 8.3.1) • June 1, 2018: a second decision regarding potential expansion will be made (see 8.3.1) • June 15, 2018: • Registration for CUC closes; • Deadline for performance bonds • June 15, 2018: A final decision regarding potential expansion will be made (see 8.3.1) • June 16-July 24, 2018: • Regional Championship roster deadlines (vary by region). • Tuesday prior to Regional Qualification: roster deadline. • Tuesday prior to Regional Qualification: Coaches and Players’ requirements deadline. • July 17, 2018: • Roster deadline for teams in region with no qualification. • Deadline for Coaches and Players’ Requirements for teams in region with no qualification • July 31, 2018: • Fee deadline for CUC player fee and Registered Competitive Athlete fee. 25% surcharge after this date. • August 1, 2018 at 8:30 am EDT: • Deadline for final roster changes (addition of 5 players, removal of players due to injuries, etc.).
