Agritourism
- Food tourism is a major opportunity to advance the integration of
agriculture, tourism and trade sectors in the Pacific
- Need to share and build on lessons learned in developing agritourism
policies and good practice e.g. Chefs4Dev Recommendations:
- Harmonisation of agriculture, trade and tourism policies at all levels and
advance development of agritourism policies in other countries
- Promote sound sustainability and investments into technology
(processing facilities, transport and infrastructure development) with a regional dimension, complemented by regional trade facilitation measures.
- Accelerate training on food safety standards and certification for farmers
and processors

Traditional food preservation and harvesting techniques
Resilience
This aaa leaf earth fridge a presere grated bananas several years.
Traditional fishing techniques: Spider webs are collected and wrapped around a stick (like in the picture), which is then attached at the back of a fishing boat just above the
- water. When sunlight hits, the
reflections attracts fish that can then easily be caught.
Traditional cooking and handicraft techniques: Dishes like laplap are prepared above the fire and mats are woven; knowledge that has been preserved and is carried
- ut till today.
