SLIDE 2
SLIDE 3 During this session, you will:
Recongnise time in different formats using the 12-hour or the 24-hour clock. Identify time intervals and links between two different times. Identify lengths, weights and capacities and convert between metric and imperial units. Use written information to solve everyday problems involving measures
SLIDE 4
Time
SLIDE 5
Calculating Time
10 minutes plus 7 minutes is 17 minutes 10 + 7 = 17 5 hours take away 2 hours is 3 hours 5 – 2 = 3
SLIDE 6
Calculating Time
What is two hours and twenty minutes added to six hours and forty minutes? 1 hour ur = 60 minute utes 2 hours and 20 minutes is 140 minutes 6 hours and forty minutes is 400 minutes = 540 minutes altogether (or 9 hours)
SLIDE 7
Class Practice Questions
1) What is 2 hours 15 minutes added to 4 hours 15 minutes? 2) What is 6 hours 25 minutes subtracted from 8 hours 40 minutes? 3) What is 9 hours 55 minutes subtracted from 15 hours 45 minutes?

SLIDE 9
SLIDE 10
Units of length
1 cm = 10 mm 1 m = 100 cm 1 km = 1000 m
SLIDE 11
Switching between units of length
mm to cm, divide by 10 cm to m, divide by 100 m to km, divide by 1000
cm to mm, multiply by 10 m to cm, multiply by 100 km to m, multiply by 1000
SLIDE 12
Switching between units of length
What is 1570 mm in m ? 1750 ÷ 10 = 157 cm 157 ÷ 100 = 1.57 m
SLIDE 13
Units of weight
1 kg = 1000 g g to kg, divide by 1000 kg to g, multiply by 1000
SLIDE 14
Switching between units of weight
How many grams are there in 0.7 kg? 0.7 x 1000 = 700 g
SLIDE 15
Units of capacity
1 cl = 10 ml 1 L = 100 cl ml to cl, divide by 10 cl to ml, multiply by 10 cl to L, divide by 100 L to cl, multiply by 100
SLIDE 16
Switching between units of capacity
How many millilitres are there in 0.34 L? 0.34 x 100 = 34 cl 34 x 10 = 340 ml
SLIDE 17
Converting between metric and imperial units
1 kg is equal to 2.2 lbs (pounds). How many lbs are in 4 kg? 1 kg = 2.2 2 lbs 1 kg = 2.2 lbs 1 kg x 4 = 2.2 lbs x 4 4 kg = 8.8 lbs
SLIDE 18 Work together complete the tasks.
Group Activity
SLIDE 19 In this session we have…
Recongnised time in different formats using the 12- hour or the 24-hour clock. Identified time intervals and links between two different times. Identified lengths, weights and capacities and convert between metric and imperial units. Used written information to solve everyday problems involving measures
SLIDE 20 I will email each of you your independent work. Please take a photo of your work and email back to me when you have finished, (or ask me for my WhatsApp number). You can also hand your work to your coach/assessor.
