Boatbuilding – Sailing - Maritime Festival – Harvest Festival

The CPL Workshop in The Shipyard in Korsør 2017 is a three weeks event and includes mostly boatbuilding, but also some sailing and participation in two festivals. The main activity will be building on the gunboat (The barge type called "kanonjolle"), a big job planned to be finished in august 2018. In other words, in this activity you will be part of a long process and contribute to a very large and a very visible result. The other activities, the sailing trips and the festivals, you will see to the end. The sailing trips could be on The Shipyard's own sailing boats Whimbrel and Pandora or on the schooner Bien. The Marine festival is a big annual event in Korsør harbor, and you will be a part of that, but you will also be able to experience all the other activities in the event. The Harvest Festival is an event for kids and their families, and it is also the last day in the workshop.

2 Planned production and competences The main boatbuilding activity will be planking the gunboat. The wood is prepared, the planks are steamed (warmed up and made smooth) and mounted on the ribs of the ship. It is big scale, accurate work. Besides some of the other parts of the gunboat will be prepared. In addition to the boatbuilding, you will participate in a two days sailing trip in smaller sailboats or in a schooner, and there will be some preparations for your participation in the two festivals. In both cases, it could be helping kids building small toy ships, but it could also be other activities. Overall, you will gain competences from working with wood and boatbuilding, sailing competences and some of the competences necessary to contribute to the two events.

3 Accommodation and meals During the workshop you will stay at the youth hostel "Svanegården" (http://www.korsorvandrerhjem.dk/) The price for a double room is DKK 500 per night (+ DKK 65 for linen if needed). A single room is DKK 390 and a triple room is DKK 600. It is possible to make meals in a small kitchen, but most of the meals you will be able to prepare and eat at the Shipyard

4 Buddies During the workshop a bunch of buddies will be attached to your group. They are students at Korsør ProduktionsHøjskole, and most of them will probably be students at The Shipyard. They will be able to help you, both during working hours and the time off work. A list of buddies will be presented along with the final time schedule as we approach August the 21st. After hours/weekend arrangements During the workshop some of the working days (the festivals) will be on Saturdays. I addition to that there will be arrangements in some of the evenings and weekend days, but the will also be some time to relax. A look at the schedule will give you an idea. Visiting student economy Regarding accommodation, Svanegården will invoice Korsør ProduktionsHøjskole, and the amount will be re-invoiced to the student's institution. Regarding the meals, breakfast and lunch on workdays will be prepared and paid for by Korsør ProduktionsHøjskole. Dinner in the evening + breakfast and lunch in weekends should be prepared by and paid for by the students themselves. Round DKK 100 a day per person (maybe a little more in the weekends) should be sufficient for that. We expect them to do it as a group, it is cheaper that way.
