Beaver Section Leader’s Report

  • In September 2018, we started off with 2 strong colonies with 24 Beavers in
  • each. Approximately half of these Beavers were invested in November.
  • These were held on:

– Thursday nights led by Tara, Rosemary, Georgie and Hazel. – Friday nights led by Jo McCue, Joanne Kelly, Judith Flowerday and Joanne Rea.

  • Our focus throughout the year was on badgework, and combining this with

as many outdoor experiences as possible, and of course, lots of fun! Badges completed included: Space, Navigator, Disability Awareness, Experiment and Health and Fitness. Hikes Way and Nights Away badges were also gained by those who attended our camps during the year.

Beaver Activities

  • Other activities throughout the year included:
  • District Christmas Quiz at Hillhall.
  • Beaver Rally Day
  • Winter Camp at Cultra (1 night).
  • Summer Camp at Lorne (2 nights).
  • Beaver Rally Day at Crawfordsburn
  • Trips to the Forest Park from Easter
  • Sponsored Fun Run: At the end of May we held our second official Fun Run in

Hillsborough Forest Park. Cubs were also invited along to this event this year. It was a great night, despite the rain, supported by both Beavers and Cubs. All children successfully completed the course, raised an amazing amount of money for Beaver and Cub funds and had a lot of fun along the way. 7 8
