Mission

 Consumers Self Help Center was founded by a

group of consumers who wanted to support each

  • ther and direct the services they receive.

 Consumers Self Help Center’s (CSHC) mission

is to develop and implement Consumer driven programs and services based on the self help philosophy to empower persons with psychiatric disabilities.

Self Help

 The Self Help philosophy is synonymous with the

Wellness, Recovery and Resiliency philosophy through the promotion of values such as:

  • Self-Direction,
  • Person-Centered,
  • Empowerment,
  • Holistic, Strength Based,
  • Peer Support,
  • Self Responsibility,
  • Respect and Hope.

Wellness & Recovery Program Objectives

 The centers are consumer/family member

directed and operated. The goal is to reduce the adverse consequences of serious mental health disturbances, the WRCs provide:

– Inclusive, voluntary consumer driven, holistic

approaches,

– Are attentive to mental health and drug/alcohol

disorders that are culturally responsive to the beliefs, traditions, values and languages of the individuals and families served.

Wellness & Recovery Program Objectives

 The principles of the WRCs are directed by effective services

and supports implemented through the development and expansion of values-driven, evidence-based and promising practices, which are sensitive and responsive to the client’s expressed culture and desired outcomes.

 Services are based on increasing resiliency, improving

problem-solving, developing and/or maintaining positive and healthy relationships and creating opportunities to build or maintain a meaningful life in the community.

Medication Support Services

 Wellness & Recovery Centers currently staffed to

provide medication support services to 850 clients annually.

 All Referrals for medication support services come

through Adult Access* Phone : 916-875-1055

Must have Medi-Cal

Must meet Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health’s Target Population Operational Definition for Specialty Mental Health services

Currently the Wellness & Recovery Centers have approximately 1000+ medication support clients. *Persons experiencing homeless may attend an onsite orientation to enroll in medication support services

MHSA Expansion

In 2017/2018 the Wellness & Recovery Centers expanded to offer extended hours and Respite at our Mission location and Medication support services to our homeless clients at both locations. Currently

  • ur Mission location is open:

9:00 am to 8:45 pm Monday-Friday

9:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturdays

Currently the Mission site is offering Respite services to our mental health community. Respite services are available during our regular business hours

Respite services are designed to provide some additional support in a safe and calm environment for a short period usually 1-3 hours for individuals experiencing increased distress in hopes they will be diverted from crisis and or a more restrictive environment

Homeless Orientation

Currently WRC Bowling offers a walk in homeless

  • rientation group to begin the intake process for

homeless individuals seeking clinical services. Wednesday 12:00pm Currently WRC Mission offers a walk in homeless

  • rientation group for homeless individuals seeking

clinical services. Tuesdays at 10:30 am

Homeless Support Services

 DMV Vouchers to obtain a replacement identification card  Birth Certificates (if born in California)  Cal-Fresh sign up  Medi-cal sign up  Housing groups – specifically on how to obtain housing,

pointers on how to present yourself when applying for housing

 Life skills for re-entering as well as maintaining in the

community

 Eviction support  Job support skills – resume and cover letter as well as mock

interviews

 Computer support – learning basic computer skills

Housing and Client Support

We have added Housing Subsidies and Support Services for Medication Support Clients who are literally homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless

 Homeless housed  At Risk Stabilized  Other Support Services Provided

  • Rent Gaps
  • Utility arrears
  • Short term hotel/motel vouchers
  • Housing documentation readiness and housing

application fees

 We would like to share with you is that we

had a client attend the homeless orientation

  • n Wednesday, finished his intake

appointment with the staff on Thursday, completed his psych appointment with the doctor on Friday morning and we were able to assist him in getting into a R&B on the same day.
