What is the role of a Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC)

• develops, negotiates, discusses pharmacy services and engages with

health bodies

• supports community pharmacy contractors to ensure that all aspects of

contractual requirements are fully understood and implemented

• builds local relationships with commissioners to ensure appropriate

consultation before changing existing arrangements or commissioning new services, including

• Health and Well Being Boards, CCG’s, Local Authorities

• Is the local organisation for community pharmacy which is funded by a

statutory levies paid by all contractors (there are 299 within the footprint)

• Consists of 15 members, with proportional representation from both the

independent sector and the CCA companies (multiples)

• Is an independent and representative group
• Is available to give advice to community pharmacy contractors and others
• Will liaise with
• 4 Health & Well Being Boards/4 Local Authorities (Public Health)
• 6 Clinical Commissioning Groups

Process for Self-Declaration

• Check the service specification states a

requirement for self declaration of competence

• Access the DoC for the service and complete

the necessary training. Complete the self assessment form

• ( www.cppe.ac.uk/services)
• Print the Self Declaration certificate and sign.

Minor Ailments

• Cheshire East - developed service to include a

greater number of medicines at level 2 with PGDs.

• Improved fee structure
• Launched with training event 6th May and aim to

have all pharmacies delivering by 30th June
