SUSTAINAB AINABLE E AGRICUL RICULTURE TURE DEVEL VELOPMENT OPMENT Agricultural development is a powerful, sustainable answer to hunger and poverty.  Demand is driving the adoption of technologies -  Various technologies are increasingly being developed in a global market,  applied at the farm level  impacting on sustainability beyond the farm  Geospatial information is such technology which lends to-  better decisions  higher productivity  enhanced efficiencies in agriculture  The availability of reliable and timely geospatial information- prerequisites of sustainable  agricultural development and food security. The adoption of geo-technologies for sustainable farming systems is challenging and  dynamic issue for farmers, extension services, agri-business and policy-makers.

GE GEOAGR GRI DISCUSSION FORUM GEOAGRI Discussion forum shall- share country experiences and approaches in developing and encouraging the  adoption of geospatial technologies for particular farming systems; improve understanding of the sustainability of farming systems and technology,  particularly in the context of future demand for food and other agricultural products; show key trends in farming practices and structures, consumer tastes and agro-  food industries and the effects they will have on sustainable farming; look at the roles for governments and markets in stimulating adoption of  appropriate technologies that can improve sustainability at the farm level; identify policy approaches for stimulating the adoption of technologies that can  improve sustainability at the farm level.
