Definitions

Existing Service Area – the specific area within which direct service or

retail service connections to customers of a public water system are

currently available. WAC 246-290-010(100)

Retail Service Area – the specific area defined by the municipal water

supplier where the supplier has a duty to provide service to all new service connections. This area must include the existing service area & may also include areas where water service is planned. WAC 246-290- 010(215)

Future Service Area - the specific area where a public water system plans

to provide water service in the future. Coordinated Water System Plan Agreement WAC 246-290-010 (114)

{Ultimate} Service Area - the specific area or areas a water system

currently serves or plans to provide water service. This may be

comprised of the existing, retail, and future service areas, and include areas where water is provided to other public water systems, through wholesale
