Urgent care centre (UCC)

  • Opened in December 2013 (moved into the new hospital in

September 2018)

  • Treats patients with minor illnesses and patients who walk in with an

injury that is not life threatening. This could include:

  • sprains, strains, and broken bones
  • minor burns and scalds
  • minor head and eye injuries
  • bites and stings
  • Equipped to perform a number of tests including x-rays, ECGs and

urine

UCC

  • Patients do not need to have an

appointment - they can just turn up

  • Staff include registered nurses,

health care assistants, emergency nurse practitioners, emergency care practitioners, trust doctors, general practitioners and advanced nurse practitioners

  • Barndoc is placed in the centre
  • Open 8am to 10pm (last patient

booked in at 9pm), 7 days a week

Surgical facilities

  • We are the main location within the Royal Free London group for

planned operations

  • We have:
  • eight state-of-the-art operating theatres
  • four ‘barn’ theatres
  • 50 beds in our surgical wards with two four-bed single-sex bays

and 42 single ensuite rooms

  • hospital beds equipped with an entertainment system that

provides a multi-channel TV service and hospital radio free of charge to patients

  • hospital rooms with Wi-Fi and reclining chairs for visitors
