Employee Self Serve
The district uses an Employee Self Service
module for payroll.
The Employee Self Service module has
many features that allow you access to your own information.
Please note that we will need a current
email address on file for you to get started.
The Employee Self Service module also
gives you access to your current personal information, payroll information, payroll payment history, W-2 history, and much more.
If you can evacuate the building:
- TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!
- Call 911 if possible
- If you can evacuate, DO IT!
- Run away from the building as quickly as possible – run in
zig zag, cover head with books, consider safely jumping from window
- Gather at the sites assigned by the BCSD for your building
If you are unable to evacuate the building:
- TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!
- Call 911 if possible
- Consider all exit routes if a chance presents itself
- Take shelter in the nearest office, room, or closet.
- Lock and barricade the door with anything you have available (desks, chairs, etc.)
- Tie down the door, if possible.
- Cover any windows that may be in the doors.
- Look for alternate escape routes (windows, additional doors in the area you are
sheltered in, etc.).
- Set your cell phone to vibrate or silent.
- Stay low to the ground and remain as quiet as possible.
- Breathe to manage your fear – focus your mind.
- DO NOT answer the door for anyone. BCSD Administration and/or law enforcement
will enter the room with key after the incident is over.
- You may have to take the offensive if the shooter(s) enter your area – last
- resort. Gather weapons (pens, pencils, books, chairs, etc.) if necessary. Create
confusion with lights, running, noises, throwing objects, distracting shooter
- Position yourself in the room in a location that will allow for the element of surprise if
the shooter(s) enters.
You cannot escape, but a shooter(s) is in your room:
- TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!
- Options:
- Run
- Fight - Throw anything available at the shooter(s), aiming at
the face to distract his/her aim
- Attack in a group (swarm)
- Use all available weapons to attack and secure the
shooter(s); anything can be a weapon.
- Grab the shooter’s extremities (arm, legs, and head) and
take him/her to the ground using body weight to secure him/her.
- “Fight dirty” to survive – bite, kick, gouge eyes, etc.
- Continue to fight until the shooter(s) is no longer a threat.
- Play Dead
If you have incapacitated the shooter(s):
- Call 911 and advise law enforcement the shooter(s) is down.
- Provide your location and stay on the line, if possible.
- Secure the suspect (belts, body weight, etc.).
- Move any weapons away from the shooter, but DO NOT
HOLD A WEAPON.
- RAISE YOUR HANDS and DROP TO YOUR KNEES. Do
not appear threatening to responding law enforcement
- fficers.
- Provide first aid to others in the room, as needed.
- The BCSD has a business casual dress
code
- No jeans, shorts, flip flops, tennis shoes, or
tank tops will be allowed.
- Please review complete board policy on
www.bettendorf.k12.ia.us
- The Bettendorf CSD is using the Raptor Visitor Management
System in all of their elementary buildings and middle school. Raptor is currently used by over 8,000 K-12 schools and community facilities, such as YMCAs to keep children safe from sexual predators.
- The first time a guest staff works in each of these buildings, the
individual will need to present a driver's license or government ID to the building secretary. Raptor will perform an instant sex
- ffender background check against the registered sex offender
databases in all 50 states using the photo ID. Once an individual has been cleared by Raptor, he/she needs only to sign in/out of Raptor for each subsequent guest staff assignment.
- Guest staff who provide services to Bettendorf High School will
check in/out with the building secretary in the office.

- If you are already in an assignment, you will not get notice of a job that
becomes open.
- If any changes are made in the preferred sub list after an absence is
entered, the absence will not go out to the preferred sub.
- There are many variables that go into the preferred sub list, it is hard to
pinpoint the exact reason why a guest staff member did not receive the job if they were on a preferred list.
- Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate personal request for guest
staff unless it is for a long term position or specialty area (ex: foreign language, music lessons)
