Research Findings

  • 2015: Chris McLeod, assistant professor with

the University of British Columbia, conducted a study of workplaces participating in COR for 10 years;

– 12% reduction (year over year) in lost time injuries and fatalities – 17% reduction in serious injuries

  • Currently, more than 670 Ontario workplaces

are actively pursuing COR™ Certification

Feedback Regarding COR™

  • OGCA advised IHSA in December 2015 that

some of their membership had concerns regarding IHSA’s delivery of COR™

  • IHSA requested specific descriptions of the

concerns in order to improve our delivery

  • OGCA and IHSA met February 10 to review

these specific concerns

IHSA’s Response to the Feedback

  • IHSA to improve communication:

– senior management of participating workplaces to be included in COR™ process and milestone correspondence

  • IHSA has agreed to hold the cost of the desk

audit at $350.

  • IHSA will launch our currently piloted COR™

Seminar program to provide advice and direction to workplaces pursuing COR™

IHSA’s Response to the Feedback

  • To better serve Small Business, IHSA will work

with our stakeholders to develop a “Pre- COR™” Program

  • IHSA will work to expand it’s capacity to

conduct external audits by investigating the concept of associate auditors

  • IHSA to conduct an efficiency review of the

administrative processes associated with achieving COR™

Going Forward

  • IHSA will solicit ongoing feedback from

program participants to ensure continued improvement of the COR™ program
