  2. West Haven High School  Making sense of GPA, Weighted and Unweighted Courses, Quality Points and Class Rank

  3. West Haven Board of Education Current Grading Policy  Grades range from A+ to F, with D being the minimum passing mark.  Class rank is determined by assigning quality points to grades and giving weighted grades designated by honors/advanced placement.

  5. GPA & Quality Points  GPA stands for Grade Point Average. Each letter grade is assigned a point value which is called the Grade Point. The Grade Point Average ( GPA ) is an average of the grade points of the courses you have taken.  Quality Points are the cumulative points used to calculate your GPA based on the grade scale and weight of the class

  6. How is GPA calculated?  Sample transcript Grade 11 GPA: 4.9095 7.4 credits Course Letter Grade Quality Points AP USGvt&Pol H A- 4.67 Chemistry I H A 5.0 Marching/Concert Band A+ 4.33 Mastr LIT H A+ 5.33 Philosophy H A+ 5.33 Precalculus H A- 4.67 Spanish lll H A 5.0
