Sample Principles for Grading & Assessment

Care for students is paramount as teachers respond to students’ needs flexibly and with sensitivity, based on the situation. Grades measure and report academic proficiency and achievement separately from work habits, character traits, and behaviors, so teachers and faculty can accurately determine and plan to address students' needs. A variety of measures are used to determine students’ academic mastery and achievement.

Sample Guidelines for Grading

Create soft deadlines and don’t penalize students for late work. Allow students to re-submit work and retake tests/quizzes after receiving feedback. Avoid assigning points for attendance. Move away from percentage grades and averaging to growth & current performance. Keep grades updated weekly so parents can support their children. Homework should be kept to a minimum and not graded.

Principios de Muestra para Calificar y Evaluar

La atención a los estudiantes es primordial ya que los maestros responden a las necesidades de los estudiantes de manera flexible y con sensibilidad, dependiendo de la situación. Las calificaciones miden e informan la capacidad académica y los logros por separado de los hábitos de trabajo, características de la personalidad y los comportamientos, para que los maestros y la facultad puedan determinar y planificar con exactitud las necesidades de los estudiantes. Una variedad de medidas se utilizan para determinar el dominio académico y el rendimiento de los estudiantes.

Pautas de Muestra para Calificar

Crear fechas límites flexibles y no penalizar a los estudiantes por el trabajo que entregan tarde.
