Introduction

River Dell High School has partnered with Bergen Community College to offer a comprehensive Dual Enrollment Program for RDHS students to earn college credit by taking the courses they would already enroll in at RD. These courses are taught by our teachers, who meet college-level educational standards. This opportunity is available to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who have demonstrated academic readiness and received the recommendation of their counselor, school administrator, and parents.

  • The ability to earn college credits, while simultaneously fulfilling

high school requirements

  • BCC credits are generally transferable to most NJ state

colleges/universities and many private/out-of-state institutions

Paying for BCC Courses

  • Cost per credit is $72.13
  • Additional $15 registration fee (per year)
  • Most courses are 3-credits ($216.39 + $15 = $231.39), with math

and science courses being the exception at 4 credits

  • Special accommodations are made for students approved for

Free/Reduced Lunch

  • Complete the Dual Enrollment Form

  • Registration forms and tuition payment are due by Dec. 12th
  • Both can be submitted to your school counselor in the guidance office

BCC Transcript & College Credit

  • All courses taken will be recorded on an official BCC transcript
  • The course site/campus is not indicated on the transcript
  • Bear in mind that some of the colleges will ask specifically where the

course was taken and if the teacher/professor was employed by the college

  • Schools have various policies on whether they will accept college

credits for courses taken at the student’s high school

Transferring Credit to College

Public Colleges/Universities in NJ

  • Check the www.njtransfer.org website for

transferability

  • World Language, Statistics and Political

Science courses are all considered

General Education courses and most likely to transfer

  • History and Art courses are considered

electives, which might be used as a ‘free elective’ in transfer, but BCC cannot guarantee of transferability

Out-of-State and/or Private Colleges/Universities

  • It is highly recommended that students

contact the admissions office of the school or check their website regarding their transfer policy
