The project has been co-fjnansed by the European Union funds and implemented in cooperation with the laboratory of the Cracow University of Technology and the New Synthesis Institute in Puławy.

We were looking for a unique active ingredient that would make our brand stand out on the Polish and international market. We have chosen blackcurrant because of its unique properties, i.e. the content of EFAs that is unheard of in any other oil, which is necessary for the proper functioning of our entire body and provides comprehensive protection for the skin. Inspired by the participation in the scientifjc conference,

• rganized by the Cracow University of Technology -

the best institutions in this branch in Poland - we have learnt that they had developed a non-invasive method

• f obtaining oils from fruit. This method enables to fully

preserve all the active ingredients of the processed fruit so that they can afgect the skin more efgectively.

In our laboratory, we have created products enriched with blackcurrant seed oil. After conducting a number

• f tests in independent institutes, the benefjcial efgects of

these cosmetics on the skin were confjrmed, and even additional unique efgects were revealed. The excellent results of the research conducted on the cosmetic line prompted us to join the EU Operational Program “Intelligent Development 2014-2020. A loan for technological innovations. ”The project successfully defended itself and ranked 18th (out of 133 grants awarded in this project). It was the only project regarding production of cosmetics. As a part of the EU project, it became possible to purchase a full production line for the line of cosmetics (mixers, mills, water treatment plant, packaging lines, etc.).

We used blackcurrant pomace from juice production. This innovative method of extraction protects the oil from the negative efgects of oxidation. Thanks to this, we receive the oil in its purest form, preserving all its natural properties. The oil obtained in this way is subjected to ultrasound, which disrupts it into nanoparticles. We then put them in our products so that your skin can enjoy them every day. Dried seeds went to the Institute of New Chemical Syntheses in Puławy, where they underwent the extraction process, which uses a technology created together with the Cracow University of Technology.

Innovative technology for obtaining Nanostructured Lipid Carrier (NLC) formulations using a bioactive substance in the form

• f blackcurrant seed oil.

Patented technology

Lipid nanoparticles have a protective function and prevent oil oxidation processes. The advantage

• f the formulation is that it contains substances of natural origin with the status of GRAS (Generally

Recognized As Safe) biocompatible with the skin, including blackcurrant seed oil, which was obtained by extraction from seeds with supercritical carbon dioxide. This method is used to obtain lipophilic extracts free from residues of organic solvents. Supercritical CO2 extraction is usually carried out at a mild temperature in an anaerobic environment, thus avoiding thermal and oxidative processes leading to the deactivation of the bioactive components

• f the extract or oil.

The gradual release of biologically active compounds contained in the oil extract from currants, increases their bioavailability, which results in longer duration of action.

Why blackcurrant seed oil?

Because it contains a combination of five essential fatty acids, not present in any other oil:

• linoleic acid (LA) synthesizes other acids from the omega-6

family responsible for maintaining optimal hydration of the skin

• γ-linolenic acid (GLA), which defjciency in the skin causes loss of

elasticity, it signifjcantly accelerates the formation of wrinkles

• α-linolenic acid (ALA) strengthens the epidermal cells and thus

the protective barrier of the skin

• leic acid stimulates the regeneration and formation of new cells
• stearic acid rebuilds the lipid coat
