WHAT IS WALK MS?

Welcome to Walk MS — connecting people living with MS and those who care about them. It is a day we come together to show the power of our connections.

WHAT IS WALK MS? Walk MS is a non-competitive, fully supported and accessible fundraising event for family members of all ages and abilities.

• No registration fee
• No minimum fundraising requirement; however, the average raised

per person is about $250

• Last year, 330,000 walkers raised about $50 million!
• Funds raised at Walk MS support cutting edge research, vital

programs and services, and drives change through advocacy at the federal, state and local level to benefit people with MS and their families.

• Walk MS is your entry point to the MS community. Walk MS connects

people living with MS and those who care about them. By connecting all of our knowledge, hope and experience, we can gain a new understanding of how to move forward. Our connections have the power to change lives. “Having only been to Bike MS events in the past, when I walked into Walk MS, as a person living with MS, I immediately understood what it was you were trying to convey. I felt like this was a place I needed to be.”

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT WALK MS?

• GROWING AND GIVING

Each year Walk MS continues to grow in participation and fundraising. The first Walk MS took place in 1988 where people who wanted to join the movement walked from downtown Minneapolis to the state capitol in St. Paul. They raised $216,000 toward research and service programs for people with MS. And they began something that grew exponentially through the new millennium and beyond. Today, Walk MS events raise $50 million a year to help people with MS move forward with their lives and end MS forever, with more than 330,000 people participating in events held in every single state.

What does it mean to get connected? Walk MS is your entry point to the National MS Society and all it offers. Walk MS is the place to connect with others affected by MS, and get connected to the latest programs, services, and knowledge.

Show support and celebrate those living with MS.

Fundraising made easy! All Walk MS participants receive  Access to our online fundraising tools, including your own personal fundraising webpage, social media tools, digital downloads and more.  Fundraising training, tips and tricks  Prizes to reward your hard work:

• Our official Walk MS t-shirt when you raise the amount

specified by the chapter. Typically $100.

• Fundraising clubs- Be part of an elite club when you

reach a designated amount.

• Team Village- Set your goals high and join other teams

in Team Village! Special team perks on the day of the Walk.
