Summary Ashley has received a Wildcard entry to play in the 12/ u Girls Australian National Tennis Championships (December Showdown) in Melbourne from December 15 – 20 2015. We have only generated this sponsorship request due to our family unexpectedly falling into hardship (like many other families) due to the resources sector redundancies that have recently occurred across the country in the past months. Ashley has dedicated herself to this tournament for the past 2 years. Her hard work and effort has given her the opportunity to play amongst the best girls in the country and invited countries. This tournament is a most prestigious event and a once in a lifetime opportunity as a 12 year old. She will be pursuing a goal she set herself, then fulfilling it in her chosen sport. If there was any individual or company that was willing to assist with sponsorship, we would be greatly appreciative, but no one more grateful than Ashley for helping her achieve this milestone in her junior tennis career.
Australian Ranking (Women's) Current - 784 Ashley’s Ranking has steadily improved over the past 12 months. This time last year she was ranked 1016, she has moved up 232 places. This improvement has been recognised by Tennis Australia which has encouraged them to give her a Wildcard entry into this Platinum event. This will give her the opportunity to improve her rankings before end of calendar year.
December Showdown – Melbourne Park • Each December the country’s best players assemble at Melbourne Park for the December Showdown. In 16 days, more than 1500 matches will be played to find out who is the best player across each age group, 12/ u will be played 15 – 20 December. • The tournament is invitation only with 48 Australian players & 16 International players. A Compass draw is preferred system, ensuring each player has a minimum of 4 matches. There is also a compulsory elimination doubles event. • The Australian Open Play-off is the centre-piece of the December Showdown (December 14 – 20). The play-off sees players from around Australia battle it out for a golden ticket into the Australian Open.
