Core Beliefs • We believe in maintaining a safe, competitive environment. • We believe in education based athletics. • We believe in sportsmanship and fair play. • We believe in developing athletes mentally, physically, and socially. • We believe in the inclusion of all student-athletes and that all participants have value. • We believe our students-athletes should be disciplined and show humility and integrity. • We believe that our coaches are teachers that model our core beliefs.

  3. AdvancED Accreditation Standards for Quality Schools Standard 1: Purpose and Direction • The school maintains and communicates a purpose and direction that commit to high expectations for learning as well as shared values and beliefs about teaching and learning.

  4. Indicator 1.1 - The school engages in a systematic, inclusive, and comprehensive process to review, revise, and communicate a school purpose for student success. How do we accomplish this: 1. Preseason meetings for coaches, parents, and student-athletes • Outlines checklists, expectations, staff responsibilities, communication with parents , communication with athletes , team evaluation, coaches evaluations, clinics and professional development, rules interpretation, sportsmanship, eligibility, drug testing, hazing, purchasing policies, facility use, legal duties of a coach, fundraising, coaches education, concussion policy, NCAA Clearinghouse, fees, website updates, administrative duties.

  5. 2. Coaches Manual • A comprehensive manual that provides a guide for all coaches concerning policies, job descriptions, coaches education, negligence, responsibilities, etc …. 3. NFHS Coaches Education Program • All coaches must meet certification standards 4. Clinics and Conferences • All coaches and AD’s attend state and national conferences to stay up to date with all laws, rules, and best practices 5. Preseason Coaches Meetings • Focuses on department, IHSAA and coaches association policy updates, management concerns and direction, strength and conditioning progress, and student safety

Indicator 1.2 - The school leadership and staff commit to a culture that is based on shared values and beliefs about teaching and learning and supports challenging, equitable educational programs and learning experiences for all students that include achievement of learning, thinking, and life skills. How do we accomplish this: 1. Track Measurable Data • DAC All-Sports Standings, IHSAA championships, DAC titles, State Qualifiers, IHSAA Sportsmanship Rating, and Scholar Athlete Awards. 2. Rigorous Scheduling of Opponents 3. Academic Eligibility / Scholar Athlete Program • A focus on education based athletics with 57% of all CPHS student-athletes earning a 3.5 GPA or better.

  7. 4. Strength and Conditioning • Athletes receives an individualize training program which tracks progress in the Squat, Power Clean, Snatch, Bench, Pro Agility, vertical leap, and 40 yard dash.

  8. 5. Vertical Programing • Coaches implement expectations, values, core beliefs, strategies, and practices for all level of sports • For example:

How do we accomplish this: 1. Sharing our data for all to see DAC All-Sports Other Accolades 2005-16 Year Boys Girls - 130 IHSAA Titles 7 th 3 rd 2005-06 - 57% of all student earn a 3.5 GPA or better 3 rd 4 th 2006-07 - ‘Excellent’ Sportsmanship Rating by the IHSAA 2 nd 4 th 2007-08 - 35 DAC Titles 4 th 4 th 2008-09 - ‘Coach of the Year’ in nearly every sport 2 nd 2 nd 2009-10 - District 1 AD of the year (2) 2 nd 3 rd 2010-11 - Hundreds of State Qualifiers 2 nd 2 nd 2011-12 - 100’s of athletes go on to play in college 2 nd 2 nd 2012-13 1 st 2 nd 2013-14 1 st 2 nd 2014-15 1 st 2015-16 1 st

  10. 2 . Modeling Behaviors • High expectations set for character, behavior, sportsmanship, and our values 3. Mentoring • Provide help for those students in need while holding them accountable to the highest levels. 4. Setting Goals to Measure Success and Continuous Improvement • Maintain Scholar Athlete Award at a 50% or higher level. • Promote sportsmanship throughout the athletic programs. - Maintain ‘Excellent’ Sportsmanship Rating with the IHSAA • Increase participation in athletic programs. • Win the Duneland Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy. • Win State level competitions (Sectional, Regional, Semi State and State). • Continue to fundraise for the necessary equipment we need to compete at the highest level.
