  3. Assessment It’s Not Going Away!  Every Standard has a Criteria about assessment  Two Standards with particular focus on assessment – Standard V and Standard VI

  4. Standard V: Educational Effectiveness Assessment Assessment of student learning and achievement demonstrates that the institution's students have accomplished educational goals consistent with:  their program of study,  degree level,  the institution's Mission,  and appropriate expectations for institutions of higher education

  5. Standard V Criteria Focus on:  College-wide Competencies  Program Learning Goals/Outcomes  Organized, sustained assessment processes  Conducted by faculty, qualified professionals  Assessment results used to inform planning and budgeting  Assessment results used for improvement (pedagogy, curriculum, student learning)

  6. Standard VI: Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement The institution’s planning processes, resources, and structures are:  aligned with each other  sufficient to fulfill its mission and goals  used to continuously assess and improve its programs and services  respond effectively to opportunities and challenges

  7. Standard VI Criteria Focus on:  Institutional-wide objectives  Unit goals/objectives  Objectives linked to Mission and Strategic Goals  Objectives assessed appropriately  Assessment results used to inform planning and budgeting  Assessment results used for improvement (planning, budgeting, institutional effectiveness)

  8. Strategic Planning, Assessment & Resource Allocation Cycle Establish Goals and Outcomes Determine Modify and assessment Improve measures Assessment Institutional Effectiveness and benchmarks Inform Implement Budget Plans and Process Gather Data Interpret and Evaluate Data
