Question Answer Does accommodation 25 require MDE request for approval? No, prior approval is not required from MDE. Accommodation 25 must be included on the student’s IEP, 504 Plan or LSP and marked for the assessment area(s) for which it is used. Which accommodations need MDE approval? Accommodations 98 and 99 must have prior MDE approval, except paper-pencil, extended time, and other previously approved accommodations for the respective assessment. Extraordinary accommodations must have prior approval. How do I document accommodation 23 and 24 in Nextera for extended time? CORRECTION: You do not have to mark in Nextera per Questar’s guidance. What accommodations are available for students with a documented diagnosis of dyslexia? If a student has an IEP or 504 Plan, you must provide the accommodation(s) listed as long as it is allowable and marked for that assessment area. Students with a diagnosis of dyslexia that were evaluated by a licensed psychologist, psychometrist, or speech language pathologist (HB 1031, July 2012) may be afforded the extended time accommodations #20/23, #24, and/or #25.
