  5. Benefits of Cocoon • Restore land • Reduce water consumption for agriculture • No follow-up irrigation. • Increases the survival rates of young seedlings by an average of 75-95 % • Reduce air pollution by capturing CO 2 . • I ncrease land value 5

  6. Pilot Project: COCOON Planting Technology in Palestine “Replant olive and other trees on degraded Palestinian land” 6

  7. • General aim: planting technology as a model to enable the growing of olive and almond trees in arid conditions in West Bank and Gaza Strip. • The objective of the Cocoon-project as introducing knowledge and innovative ideas to the region. • In Partnership with : 7

Aims of the project • Replant trees in degraded Palestinian land. • Support farmers and their families by creating job opportunities. • Encourage Palestinian universities to conduct scientific research. • Protect and preserve the environment. • Tangible ecological benefits will include: shade, dust mitigation, windbreaks and soil improvement. 8

  9. • In 2016, 600 trees in the West Bank and 300 trees in the Gaza Strip were planted using COCOON. • In 2017, we are aiming to plant 3,000 trees in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip by end of 2018. 9

  10. Future vision To overcome the environmental challenges in MENA, such as desertification, droughts, soil degradation, and water stress, MENAQUA aims to bring COCOON to all MENA countries. What we are looking for? Private and public companies, local and international NGOs, to create with us a greener future for MENA region. 10
