  2. Optical Readout Method - Two-phase LArTPC design. - THGEM in gas phase amplifies drifted charge (up to ~100x). - Secondary scintillation light (S2) emitted in THGEM. Benefits: - High resolution — each EMCCD sensor is 1024x1024 pixels (run with 4x4 binning ≈ 1mm resolution). - Sensitivity to low energies — gain generated in the THGEM and the single-photon sensitivity of the EMCCDs. - Very low noise — EMCCDs are decoupled from TPC noise sources. - Ease of access — EMCCDs and future optical readouts can easily be swapped in and out, even during cryogenic running. 2 NNN17, Warwick Jared Vann

Characterisation & Physics Goals - Detector will be characterised in Liverpool with cosmic muons , and a laser calibration system . - ARIADNE will collect data at CERN T9 test beam in 2018 (0.5GeV/c to 3.0GeV/c, e ± , p ± , π ± ). - Show ability to perform PID with optical readout. - Event reconstruction using EMCCD data. - Measurements of the Pion cross-section in liquid argon. - e- 𝛿 separation using EM showers. 5 NNN17, Warwick Jared Vann
