  1. Annual Report to North Allegheny School Board of Directors

  2.  Mission: To enhance and enrich the educational experience of North Allegheny students and to provide scholarship monies to outstanding graduating seniors.  North Allegheny Foundation is a broad-based community organization focused on supporting classroom experiences that go beyond the textbook to provide innovative “hands on” learning. These experiences provide the spark that can ignite a student’s interest and imagination.  The North Allegheny Foundation is dedicated to encouraging excellence and innovation in the North Allegheny Schools.  NAF’s work is focused on achieving the six goals of the North Allegheny School District.

  3. North Allegheny Foundation is the fundraising and benefactor arm of the School District. It seeks to create vital connections between the District and the wider community. This is accomplished through: Grant Making: Distributing funds to teachers and schools of NA in support  of the District’s six strategic goals. General Fundraising: Raising funds through such efforts as the annual  fund campaign, honor and memorial giving, planned giving and special events. Program-based Fundraising: Seeking funds for new, expanding or  otherwise novel programs to ensure the District’s ability to anticipate and fulfill the needs of the community. Scholarships: Provides scholarships to exceptional students graduating  and facilitates scholarships through community scholarships and partnerships. Alumni Relations: Reconnecting with the 34,271 North Allegheny alumni  across our region and around the globe.

  4.  The Executive Director met with Principals of each school an other District leaders in the summer of June and July.  Identified areas where NAF could support the work of the schools and District Goals.  Developed strategies to raise funds to support of the identified needs.  Accepted by the NAF Trustees at the September 20 th meeting.

  5. Immediate Impact (Funded 9/20/2016) Bussing for Tutoring Program at CMS Sensory Materials at CMS, FES, BWE and MCK Life Skills Programming at MMS Marching Band Instruments School branding and pride at NASH and NAI KEVA Kits for Middle Schools Instrument Storage at MES Ukulele Cart and Drums Alive program for PES Hummingbird / Arts and bots request from FES Angel Fund for Supporting Students

Comprehensive Strategies for Consideration Marching Band Instruments Playground Equipment at Elementary Schools Closed Circuit TVs at Middle Schools Outdoor Classroom Spaces NAI Digital Media Center Professional Development Makerspaces at Elementary and Middle schools Traveling Art Gallery Prints

  7. NA Foundation offers five scholarships from the Foundation’s general operating fund. In April of 2016 the following scholarships were awarded by NAF:  Leadership: Shanelle Marie Fernando  Service: Grace Jin  Extra Effort: Shanelle Marie Fernando,  Arts: Regina Munsch  Academics: Sophia Lee  Kyle Chase Johnson Memorial Scholarship: Rachel Runatz and Kevin Cooper  Musical Excellence: Matthew Hickley Several memorial and honoring scholarships are also setup through NA Foundation, although the Foundation does not select the recipients or solicit funds on their behalf.

  8.  The premier fundraising event of the North Allegheny Foundation is the annual Golf Classic. Traditionally held during the middle of June, the event brings together business leaders, NA alumni and staff for a day of celebration and supporting high quality education in North Allegheny.  2016 included 76 golfers and raised nearly $50,000 for NA Foundation's programs.

  11.  200 runners are expected to participate in the Trick or Trot 5K this weekend.  The NA Marching Band will be performing prior to the race  Costume Contest for children 12 years and younger.  Thank you to our sponsors: MassMutual and MedExpress

  13.  Trustees are reviewing all areas of NAF’s work in order to maximize the impact on the District’s strategic goals.  Actively seeking external funding sources to support such initiatives as the STEAM Lending Library, Focus 2020.  Updating fundraising programs focused on corporate and individual giving in addition to planning three major fundraising events.

  14.  United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania The North Allegheny Foundation's Contributor's Choice code is 3567.
