Passed on resident feedback that a bar/restaurant with a lounge, daycare, and workout facility are things that residents really want. - Discussed with developers in Cavanagh the possibility of lobbying for pedestrian bridge on 111 th Street where the vehicle bridge was taken out.

  17. President’s Year in Review What happened? What was accomplished? Planning: - In November 2018 the community league board of directors held a strategic planning session. Then in December 2018 residents were surveyed so that their feedback could be incorporated in the prioritization of projects. Neighbourhood Watch: - The league endorsed the creation of a resident-led neighbourhood watch program in Allard (December 2018).

  23. President’s Year in Review What happened? What was accomplished? Financial Admin Improvements: - After burning out three Treasurers in about three years we hired a bookkeeper. This takes a huge amount of work off of the shoulders of the Treasurer, especially for soccer transactions. The Treasurer now only provides financial oversight and direction as required. - Our finances have been migrated to Quickbooks from spreadsheets, enabling much easier reporting. - We also now a Square account and have been giving people the option to pay for memberships with a credit card.

  24. President’s Year in Review What happened? What was accomplished? Policy & Procedure Improvements: - We update all of our old policies and procedures. Some dated back to 2013. - Two new policies were created. - They are all on the BCCL website, along with our bylaws which we last updated in 2017. Board Governance Guide: - About 50% completed. Will help future board members understand what needs to be done every month and how to do it, so that critical knowledge isn’t lost if there’s board turnover.

All members of the community league can now claim an individual annual membership which will allow you to borrow up to eight items from their large inventory of hand, power, and yard tools for a week at a time.

  26. President’s Year in Review What happened? What was accomplished? Pitch Your Project: - Attended this event organized by the City of Edmonton in October 2018. Pitched buying a professional grade temporary volleyball setup that could be used a league events or lent out residents or even other leagues. Didn’t win money that night but the City found money for it anyway afterwards. So we can have beach balls and volleyball on Canada Day for example.
