Williams Field High School ♦ Program of Acknowledgement

Greeting and Introduction Principal Steve Tannenbaum Narration Dionne Coleman Ken Vandehei Memorial Scholarship The Ken Vandehei Memorial Scholarship is in honor of Mr. Ken Vandehei. The Vandehei family established the Ken Vandehei Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Higley Achievement Foundation as a tribute to Ken. Ken felt it was important for students graduating from high school to continue their education by going to college. It is the hope that through continued donations and funds raised by the Ken Vandehei Memorial Golf Classic, future outstanding seniors in the Higley Unified School District will benefit from the scholarship fund. This year’s 2020 Ken Vandehei recipients are: Sukin Patel Garrett Ruiz Queen Creek Kiwanis Club Queen Creek Kiwanis is a community-based club that works with high school key clubs. There is a blue clothing box that sits in our parking lot. During the year, Key Club and other clubs have a clothing drive. Donations are sold, and scholarships are created for students. If you are cleaning out your closets, the blue box is always hungry for donations. This year, Queen Creek Kiwanis selected two Williams Field High School students for the scholarship: Garrett Ruiz Bushra Karim ACE Program Graduates The ACE (Achieving a College Education) Program services over 100 local high schools in the valley and helps high school students earn a college degree. ACE was created to demonstrate their commitment to serve all students in their community. The ACE program has three primary goals for its students: graduate from high school, continue with college after ACE completion, and earn a

degree or certificate. High school sophomores are recruited to participate in ACE during their junior and senior years. Once accepted into the program, ACE students are concurrently enrolled in high school and college courses, attending college courses during the summer and on Saturdays during the school year. ACE students can earn up to 24 college credits by the time they graduate from high school, and they can transfer to a University to earn their bachelor’s degree. This year's 2020 ACE Program graduates are: Jason Breinholt Maria Juarez Barrondo Brielle Failner Julie Brennan Elissa LaVia Hannah Brandon Friend’s Place Award This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who are residents of Gilbert, Arizona. Scholarships have been established at Arizona's major universities community colleges and local high schools for eligible

  • students. The Neelys were local farmers, and while they prospered, they embraced the community as

their family. Their harvest continues as the foundation improves and enriches the lives of Arizona citizens each year. We are able to select one student to receive this amazing scholarship. This year's recipient is: Bushra Karim Mary Buscema College and Career Ready Scholarship – Higley Achievement Foundation The Mary Buscema College and Career Ready Scholarship.
