  • Needed to develop using an Agile approach
  • Searched for suitable Agile training company
  • Unboxed Consulting Web site was crucial to searching

getting the initial contact with Unboxed Consulting

  • Very simple and low cost sales process for Unboxed

The Office for National Statistics

The ONS:

  • BT Bid (in 2011) for 2011 Census Web Development Project
  • Bid Strategy was to propose an Agile Development
  • Unboxed were invited by BT to be involved in Bid Process…

but still low cost and straightforward sales process for Unboxed – BT Bid costs circa £150K

  • BT Procurement showstopper – Unboxed Consulting not a

BT Approved Supplier. Process would take about 3 months and Unboxed likely to be rejected! Not SME friendly!

  • Managed to find an alternative contracting approach, much

to the disappointment of BT Procurement

HMLR – assembled same winning team of subcontractors for a one day workshop

  • Unboxed were positioned to provide initial engagement of

Agile Coaching

contracted direct with Unboxed – via G Cloud ii

Current challenges?

  • Government SME target of 25% of revenue may never be

achieved – currently 8%

  • Larger SI’s still dominate and will continue to do so – Indirect

selling for SME’s is still valid and very useful to both parties

  • For Direct Government Sales, small SME’s need to work more

closely together to pool skill sets to be competitive

  • Seek to develop a network of SME’s with complementary skills

and cultural fit to extend the ‘solution’ you can offer

  • Share and bid for opportunities when you won’t win on your own
