Fire Arrangements Section 2: Emergency & Welfare Arrangements

REMEMBER ALWAYS FOLLOW EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

  • Only fight a fire with a extinguisher if it is

safe to do so.

  • Make sure the safety pin remains in

position to prevent accidental discharge.

  • If you accidentally discharge the

extinguisher, get it exchanged. If propellant cartridge is pierced extinguisher will lose pressure even if full.. All extinguishers should be tested annually and have a label showing date.

MGJV safely delivering value in AMP5 for Thames Water

Alarms Section 2: Emergency & Welfare Arrangements

REMEMBER ALWAYS FOLLOW EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

  • On site there should be an agreed muster

should an emergency occur. On hearing the alarm you should stop your activity IMMEDIATELY and walk calmly to it.

  • Do NOT return to work until you have

been told by your supervisor it is safe to do so. Co-operate with “drills” as these may one day save your life.

Method Statements & Risk Assessments & Permits Section 5: Hazard & Risk Management

Before starting any task ensure you are familiar with the appropriate generic risk assessments / method statements or working instructions. In addition a site-specific risk assessment must be completed. The risk assessment should:

  • Identify any hazards at your work site
  • Decide who may be harmed by the hazards and how
  • Decide on the level of risk
  • Decide on measures to control the risk and document them
  • Update the Risk Assessment if there are significant changes to the

hazards and / or risk IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY AND / OR CONTROL SIGNIFICANT RISK THEN CONTACT YOUR LINE MANAGER FOR ASSISTANCE

MGJV safely delivering value in AMP5 for Thames Water

Section 5: Hazard & Risk Management 10 minute briefings

  • The work changes from day to day – You need to know
  • The “environment” changes from day to day - You need to know
  • We all forget some things (this is a reminder of the most important points)

Co-operate by listening You will be asked to sign attendance sheets.
