Why it Matters

1) 8th grade is the ‘deadline’ that most accurately predicts a child’s success in college and beyond. 2) If a child has received the relevant math education by 8th grade:

  • A. That child will have a higher likelihood of going to college.
  • B. That child will likely be more successful in high school, college,

and careers beyond. 3) Preparing all students for rigorous mathematics helps to close the achievement gap among students from differing ethnic and socioeconomic groups.

Proposed Operating Principles

1) Think beyond own organization/services – stay results focused, with an understanding of what all organizations can both give and get through this process. 2) Attend and participate in all meetings 3) Use consensus, practice non-attribution, accept and support group decisions. 4) Maintain confidentiality of data and opinions shared within the Network.

Individually

  • Review Factor Analysis Guide

Gallery Walk: With Your Table (15 min)

  • Rotate through each data board
  • Identify which THREE factors would most likely improve this outcome?
  • Achieve consensus in your group
  • Write one factor per post-it note
  • Pick no more than three (3) per outcome
