Mission and Catholic Identity Goal

  • Create one Mission and Catholic Identity goal (additional, if you would like)
  • Use the NSBECS language for this goal
  • The first four standards are under the domain of Mission and Catholic Identity
  • Each of the four standards has benchmarks--21 total--and you may choose
  • ne of these as your goal
  • Use the Rubrics for Benchmarks document and the Guidelines for Interpreting

and Scoring Benchmarks to help with the goal planning worksheet

  • Use surveys, ACRE scores, etc. as documentation on the goal planning

worksheet

Academic Goals - Math and English/Language Arts

Create 2 SMART goals…...Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant Time-bound

  • SPECIFIC-answer the what, why, who, where, and how; avoid ambiguous

language;

  • MEASURABLE-need a numeric value to know when success is achieved;
  • ATTAINABLE-find range between unattainable (too extreme) and too

attainable (within reach)--Goldilocks!

  • RELEVANT-aligned with identified need determined after data analysis;
  • TIME-BOUND--deadline/due date--with regular monitoring

Academic Goals - Math and English/Language Arts

Create 2 SMART goals…...Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant Time-bound Make these examples SMARTer:

  • The percentage of Saint Sample students meeting or exceeding grade level

benchmark in reading will increase by 10%.

  • All Saint Sample students will demonstrate improvement in vocabulary across

the curriculum.

  • All Saint Sample students will be proficient in mathematics mastering grade-

level proficiency determined by assessments based upon the Indiana Academic Standards.

Academic Goals - Math and English/Language Arts

Create 2 SMART goals…...Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant Time-bound “Essence of the Goal” has been deleted. If you create a SMART goal you don’t need to explain further. Goals should be determined after analysis of data.

Evidence-Based Interventions

What is Evidence-Based? Actions that have been proven effective through rigorous outcome evaluations (i.e., quantitative-focused studies). If implemented with fidelity, the intervention is expected to positively change outcomes. Activities or Strategies used for interventions should be something new.

  • What Works Clearinghouse (WWC)
  • Education Resources Information Center (ERIC)
  • Center for Research and Reform in Education, John Hopkins University
  • Social and Emotional Learning Interventions (Rand Corporation)

Professional Development

  • As you are creating this SIP, schools should be planning PD. What does your

staff need to make this be successful?

  • PD should be centered around your goals.
  • Title II Funds
  • What resources will be needed?
slide-11
SLIDE 11

Parent Communication & Timeline

  • What does this look like?
  • Communicated through SIS, website, newsletters,

back to school night

  • Goals are good for 3 years
  • Constant monitoring of goals
slide-12
SLIDE 12

Operational Vitality Goal

  • Should tie into Strategic Plan where appropriate. But also should engage

teachers and staff.

  • Again use the NSBECS domain of Operational Vitality to use the

standards/benchmarks to create goal.
